Zion spring break

Seven and 1/2 easy drive to Zion. arrived in the rain, checked in the hotel. the Driftwwod for the next 5 nights. Had a fabulous dinner at the 78 restaurant on hotel grounds and called it a day.

Morning was leisurely because it was cloudy and we wanted to ease into our visit. This the evening view from the patio of our room.
Too the shuttle into town...it is a quaint little town more spread out then expected. It was a very quiet morning and we stopped for a quick breakfast before entering the park.

The clouds were hanging over the rocks so the view pre and post were so different. We took the shuttle up the farthest point we intended to take it easy the first day.

Hiked the Riverside walk trail. it was a beautiful trail that slowly narrowed.

The contrasting colors were just beautiful and as the sun began coming out the waterfalls began flowing heavier. It was amazing to see the waterfalls in the morning compared to the afternoon.

This is at the end of the river walk where The Narrows begin. This hike requires you to wade through the water sometimes neck high. it was supposedly closed for the day but I don't know how they would stop anyone from going. the trails were really accessible and there were quite a few people but it never felt crowded.

We decided to skip the shuttle and walk so it was nice and peaceful with no one else along the road lots of views although after we figured the walk from Big Bend to Weeping Rock would have been prettier.

At Weeping Rock we went on the wrong trail and was wondering how it was considered easy. fter hoofing through some switchback we asked some fellow hikers and we were on the wrong trail but what a view. we were going to return tomorrow for this trail.

We backtracked to the weeping Rock trail. this was the easy trail steep but short. You could stand under/inside the rocks and the water dripped down like a veil.

It was a great first day. Went back to the hotel sat on the porch and just chilled.
